Sometimes you will see numbers written with a space instead of a comma, for example:

In American English, we write 3,156 as three thousand, one hundred fifty-six. We write 7,062 as seven thousand sixty-two.

In British English, we write 3,156 as three thousand, one hundred and fifty-six. We write 7,062 as seven thousand and sixty-two.

In less-than-formal English, some people say 3156 as thirty-one-fifty-six or three-one-five-six.

Four-digit numbers are called thousands.
