MediumSpringGreen Box   Olive Box   DarkCyan Box  minus     MediumSpringGreen Box  equals     Olive Box   DarkCyan Box

We start with three boxes, take away one box, and now have two boxes. We take away one box from our three boxes to get two boxes.

We start with ten boxes, take away one box, and now have nine boxes.

In order to do basic subtraction, you must memorize some equations but fear not: FoxyMath will help you! When you are finished with this lesson, you will know the following equations:

  1 - 1 =   0
  2 - 1 =   1
  3 - 1 =   2
  4 - 1 =   3
  5 - 1 =   4
  6 - 1 =   5
  7 - 1 =   6
  8 - 1 =   7
  9 - 1 =   8
10 - 1 =   9
11 - 1 = 10
12 - 1 = 11

The following exercise will help you learn the above equations and what they mean. Please take your time: take whatever time you need to learn the material.
