Basic Subtraction Lesson 1: Number 1

Welcome to Basic Subtraction. In this unit, you will learn how to subtract numbers from one to twelve and also zero. FoxyMath wishes you success!

Here's an easy example:

We start with three boxes, take away one box, and now have two boxes. We take away one box from our three boxes to get two boxes.

In order to do basic subtraction, you must memorize some equations but fear not: FoxyMath will help you! When you are finished with this lesson, you will know the following equations:

  1 - 1 =   0
  2 - 1 =   1
  3 - 1 =   2
  4 - 1 =   3
  5 - 1 =   4
  6 - 1 =   5
  7 - 1 =   6
  8 - 1 =   7
  9 - 1 =   8
10 - 1 =   9
11 - 1 = 10
12 - 1 = 11
